Visualising AUTO-TWIN’s software architecture

During these last months of AUTO-TWIN project, SYXIS worked with other technical partners, to the project architecture definition. Each partner provided details about their software tools and SYXIS created a common structure in which all tools will operate together.

The approach followed is based on standard ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010 “Systems and software engineering - Architecture description”.

C4 model (https://c4model.com/) has been selected for the visualization of the architecture because it provides a way to map the different parts of the system, highlighting different components, identifying the main data paths, and helping to understand the responsibilities of the different parts composing the architecture

It also has the important benefit of providing some views with a rather low level of detail, which can be easily understood also by people without strong technical background, allowing all parties in the project to achieve a sufficient understanding of the system structure.
