In the scope of the recently completed H2020 DataCloud Project, Professor Andrea Marrella will showcase the design and implementation of a context-aware framework that simulates the production planning, of manufacturing activities, of a leading Industry 4.0 sanitary-ware company. The framework supports the decision-making activities of the company by incorporating Process Mining, Business Process Simulation, Cloud Computing, and Visual Analytics techniques.
Meet Professor Andrea Marrella
Professor Marrella is an Associate Professor of Engineering in Computer Science (Sapienza Università di Roma), winner of the Best Paper Award with “Multi-party Business Process Resilience By-Design: A Data-centric Perspective” at the prestigious 29th International Conference of Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2017). His research work concerns the application of techniques for Reasoning About Actions, including Automated Planning, to problems arising in Business Process Management (BPM), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Process Mining. Andrea has co-authored over 100 scientific publications in major outlets in the AI and information systems areas. In 2022, he co-authored the Manifesto on AI-Augmented BPM, presenting the vision to make processes more adaptable, proactive, and explainable through AI. In 2023, he was appointed to organize and chair the AAAI 2023 Bridge Program on AI and BPM
